Actresses Mary Elizabeth Winstead (“Birds of Prey”) and Xochitl Gomez (“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”) will star in the sci-fi film “Ursa Major”.
The storyline will follow a mother (Winstead) and daughter (Gomez) fighting for survival on a distant but Earth-like planet. There, they are threatened by a group of hunters and an oncoming deadly storm.
In the midst of all this, the daughter begins to question the decisions her mother made, the explanation she gave about who they are and how they got there and what they need to do to survive.
“Ursa Major” was written by Patrick Somerville (creator of “Station Eleven”), starring Colleen O’Brien and Katie French, and will be directed by brothers Jonathan and Josh Baker (“Kin”). The film doesn’t have a release date yet.
This will be Xochitl Gomez’s next project after drawing attention for his participation as America Chavez in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (2022).
Mary Elizabeth Winstead, in turn, will soon be seen in the “Ahsoka” series, a new production from the “Star Wars” universe that will debut March 12, 2023 on the Disney + streaming service.
