Think “everything everywhere at once” can’t get any crazier? You’ll change your mind after reading the description of this cut scene, which will only be visible in video edits.
Released in our theaters on August 31, after raging in the United States, everything everywhere at once did not steal its reputation as crazy and very human. And also rich. Because this story, in which Evelyn (Michelle Yeo) explores various alternate realities, is full of ideas, so much so that a second viewing (or even a third) may be necessary to appreciate them all.
Concentrating them into one stand-alone film wasn’t easy for directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. And some ideas were left on the floor, as another confirmed during a visit to Paris at the Champs-Élysées Film Festival, whose feature film closed this year.
“A lot on the set”he answers. “But in the writing phase, we were careful to be tough enough on ourselves to get rid of anything that wasn’t necessary in the film. And still cut things in the edit.”
He looked very good, but he had no place in the film
Beginning with an improbable but true sequence: “There’s a whole world that you’ll only see on Blu-Ray where the characters are talking noodles. Evelyn goes into that world where she meets a little spaghetti noodle guy: he’s a talking spaghetti who has a kid. We had one. He built puppets and filmed it all. He looked very good, but he had no place in the film (laughs)”
Available in the United States since July, the video edition of Everything Everywhere at Once does not yet have a release date in France. Given the timing of the new media, it won’t go on sale until December 31st, so we can easily expect early 2023 to dive back into this multiverse and check out that cut scene. And other bonuses that the directors have in store for us.
