Disney Prime? The company explores creating a membership program

Disney is exploring creating an Amazon Prime-style membership program that would offer exclusive benefits, discounts, and other perks for Disney services.

The information comes from The Wall Street newspaperwhich also highlighted another advantage for Disney with the arrival of Disney Prime: the collection of information on the tastes and habits of its customers, which would increase its ability to cross-sell its activities, from streaming to theme parks and to merchandising.

But the paper revealed that discussions on the creation of this program are still in the early stages. It is still unclear which segments of the Disney audience the show will seek to target, at what price or when this potential subscription program will arrive.

According to information revealed by the WSJ, the company executives would have called the project “Disney Prime”, but this will not be the final name of the program.

Disney’s director of communications Kristina Schake confirmed to the WSJ that the company is exploring a subscription program in a statement. “Technology offers us new ways to personalize and personalize the consumer experience so that we can deliver entertainment, experiences and products that are more relevant to each of our guests,” said Schake. “A membership program is just one of the exciting ideas being explored.”

Disney already has a membership program, the D23 fan club, which costs $ 99.99 per year for one person or $ 129.99 per year for 2 people. D23 Club benefits include the opportunity to purchase exclusive merchandise, a subscription to Disney twenty-three magazine and discounted tickets to the D23 Expo, which bills itself as “the best event for Disney fans.”

The idea of the new show, however, would be to focus on the more casual Disney fans, going beyond the target audience of the fan club D23, which is something more aimed at the big fans of the company.
