Warning, spoilers. It is recommended that you watch Episode 2 of House of the Dragon before you continue reading this article.
Like Game of Thrones, its spin-off series House of the Dragon combines stories of both power and family. And this often comes into conflict. That’s the case in the spin-off’s second episode, as King Visser I (Paddy Considine) is more concerned with finding a new wife after Aemma Arryn’s death than defeating her enemies.
Thus, he does not even move to confront his brother, the demon (Matt Smith) who captured Dragonstone with his army. This is his own daughter Renyra (Milly Alcock) who will resolve the conflict and retrieve the dragon egg stolen by the demon.
Moreover, King Visser I does not take seriously the threat of the Triarchy, an alliance between the free cities of Lys, Myr, and Tiros, who have captured the Stone Stairs and imposed levies to prevent passage through the Straits.
Despite the advice of Lord Corley Velarion (Steve Toussaint), the king is unfazed by the threat posed by the Triarchy and one of its representatives, which we see at the end of the episode.
Thus, the masked man we see at the end of episode 2 of House of the Dragon is Kraga’s Drahar, nicknamed The Crab, as he binds his victims to the shores of the islands, leaving them to the waves and the crabs. He is played by Daniel Scott-Smith, who we saw in a small role in Men in Black: The International.
This admiral becomes one of the masters of the stone degrees, increasing the tax more and more and fighting financially with the other admirals. This escalation of taxation angers merchants and navies such as House Velarion.
That’s why Durant Corley’s Velarion seeks support from the Daemon after King Viserys I’s inaction. The two then begin a war against the Triarchy for dominance of the Stone Grades. In the book Fire and Blood, on which the House of Dragon series is based, the conflict continues for two years, ending with a battle between the demon and Kraga Drahar.
Crabeater is killed by a demon with his Valyrian steel sword named Dark Sister. Kraga Drahar was beheaded. House of the Dragon Episode 2 ends with the reveal of the Crab Giver, albeit a masked face, and the trailer for Episode 3 hints that the battle between the demon and the admiral will be at the center of this new chapter.
