It is Alan Taylor, another name well known to Game of Thrones fans, who will step into the dance as a director and producer for the second season of the series, which was renewed even before the start of season 1.
So Miguel Sapochnik is leaving, but under an exclusive contract with HBO to develop new projects and retain the role of executive producer for the duration of the series. The director spoke about his departure:
