Actor Doug Bradley, who played the iconic Pinhead in the original “Hellraiser” films, praised Jamie Clayton’s casting as the female version of the villain in the remake that will be streamed in October.
“It was already obvious to me that a female Pinhead was on her way. It was an interesting casting choice,” she commented at the horror convention Silver Scream Con in Massachusetts, in a recorded statement by the specialist website Bloody Disgusting.

The plot is based on the book “The Hellbound Heart”, which was adapted by the same writer in the movie “Hellraiser – Reborn from Hell”, in 1987.
The original story was about a sinister cube, which promised transcendent pleasures but actually opened the gates of hell, condemning souls to an eternity of suffering at the hands of the terrible Cenobites. One of these victims was a man named Frank, who in search of forbidden pleasures finds the artifact capable of accessing another dimension and his body is torn apart by the creatures. From there, his mistress Julia goes to great lengths to free him from hell, practicing sinister rituals without his family suspecting his plans. Until his niece Kirsty finds the cursed artifact and unwittingly ends up summoning the Cenobites as well.
The release of “Hellraiser” made a huge impact with its blend of sadomasochism, demonic pacts, cursed artifacts, gory ultraviolence and nightmarish creatures – most notably Pinhead, a coenobite whose entire head is covered in pins. He has become one of the horror landmarks of the 1980s.
The film won an official sequel in 1988, based on an idea by Barker himself, but the success ended up taking the franchise out of the hands of its creator, resulting in productions that were increasingly weak and far from the original mood – just like Jason, from “Friday”.
