Chris Rock reacts negatively to Will Smith’s apology

Comedian Chris Rock spoke about Will Smith’s recent apology during his European cabaret tour.

Rock’s statement was released last Saturday during his performance at London’s O2 Arena, according to Deadline magazine, which had representatives on site.

According to the magazine, Chris Rock devoted part of his show to talking about Will Smith and the nearly 6-minute video titled “It’s Been A Minute …”, posted on the Oscar-winning actor’s official YouTube channel.

In his presentation, Rock allegedly said “fuck your hostage video” in response to the apology video, posted by Smith in July. This is the first time the comedian has publicly commented on the video in question.

During previous performances, Rock made other comments about the slap he took on Smith at the 2022 Oscars ceremony. “Yeah, that shit hurt. You played Ali. I can’t even play Floyd Mayweather. “

Additionally, Rock called Will Smith “Suge Smith,” in reference to former Death Row Records music executive Suge Knight, who is serving a 28-year prison sentence for murder.

Will Smith released the aforementioned video just over four months after he slapped Chris Rock in the face at the 2022 Oscars, again breaking the silence on the case.

The actor has posted a video lasting almost 6 minutes on his official YouTube channel, in which he apologizes for what happened and answers the questions that have been asked on the internet. Among them, he questions like “Why didn’t you apologize to Chris during the acceptance speech?” and “After Jada rolled her eyes, did she ask you to do something?”

remember the case

It all started at the 2022 Oscars ceremony, as comedian Chris Rock presented the Best Documentary category. At one point, Rock referred to Jada Pinkett Smith as “GI Jane 2”, referring to the 1997 film “By the Edge of Honor,” starring Demi Moore in which the actress appeared bald.

The joke in question refers to the shaved head the actress has been wearing since her alopecia problem escalated. Actor Will Smith, husband of Jada, took the Oscars stage and slapped Chris Rock in the face, causing a stir during the ceremony and even among the audience watching him from home. Then the actor was filmed as he yelled “Take my wife’s name out of your bullshit … out of your mouth.”

The ceremony followed and Will Smith won the Best Actor award, and in the acceptance speech he began his apology to the Academy. The next day, the actor apologized to the Academy again and also apologized to Chris Rock himself.

He later retired from the Academy, only to be banned from the Academy from all of its events for 10 years. The actor accepted the Academy’s decision. For his part, Chris Rock has not filed formal complaints against Will Smith.
