Warning, spoilers. The following article will reveal the main plot of “Sliders, Parallel Universes” and its ending.
Remember the “Sliders” (or “Sliders”), they were this group of travelers who used the vortex to “glide” from one parallel universe to another. Created by Robert K. By Weiss and Tracy Torme, Sliders, parallel universes traveled here for 5 years of its existence. First of all Canceled by Fox at the end of Season 3, Sci-Fi kept the series going for two more seasons before finally saying goodbye to the small screen on February 4, 2000…with a cliffhanger!
Despite its open ending, the series has become a classic of television science fiction. Sliders ends on Season 5, Episode 18, titled “Fan World.” We refresh your memory.
In their latest journey through space and time, the Sliders team finds themselves for the first time in a world inhabited by people who eagerly await their arrival. In this world they are idolized, there are TV documentaries dedicated to them, for example. The fanaticism surrounding their people also has a name: Slidology. Thus, they learn that a prophet named “The Seer” has been following their adventure since the beginning of the series, thanks to his special gifts. He knew they were going to set, just as he knows their next journey, which he declares fatal to all.
Moreover, the Sliders discover that their sworn enemies in this world, the Cromages, have been destroyed by a deadly virus. Rembrandt then offers to go to the next world, taking the virus with him and leaving the others to learn to live in this world, safe from all danger.
hopeless ending
Afraid of this world of which they are heroes Sliders to decide, in spite of everything, to leave everyone. As they leave, they find that the vortex has been destroyed, so they can’t leave. Their suspicions were then directed to Le Voyant, which denies any responsibility. He blames his daughter Claire, a woman who has been helping them since they arrived in this parallel world. Their departure would mean a significant loss of income for him, as he lives solely on the trade around Slideology. Claire threatens to kill them using Chromag technology, which she has the main tools for. Mark then comes to stop her, but she has a heart attack.
However, the parallel world military forces manage to subdue Claire, and Diana manages to open the vortex, but only partially. Only one slider can slide into it. Rembrandt dedicates himself. He injects the anti-Kromag virus into his blood and leaves this world. Mark soon dies, so it’s impossible for the Sliders (and viewers!) to know what will happen to Rembrandt in the future. Therefore, it is an unanswered question that the series ends.
