Pixar will produce a sequel to the 2016 Oscar-winning film “Inside Out”.
The announcement was made on Friday (9/9) by actress Amy Poehler, who voices Joy in the English version, while attending D23. At the Disney convention, she said the emotions will return “for a new adventure in Riley’s head”.
Disney has also extended the announcement to social media, with the right to advertise the production logo. Look down.
The first “Inside Out” tells the story of Riley, a preteen who goes through a series of mixed emotions as she moves from the Midwest to San Francisco. Therefore, the emotions Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness must be divided into the control center within the girl’s mind, where they help her with daily advice. But as Riley struggles to adjust to her new life, the turmoil in her mental headquarters builds, creating great instability.
It’s unclear if Pete Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen, who wrote and directed the award-winning film, will return in the sequel. Docter became Pixar’s godfather in 2018 and since the release of “Soul” (2020) he has focused on executive work.
But the sequel is expected to reveal the new emotions of the girl Riley. Docter revealed that many had to be cut from the original film. According to him, the first script had 26 emotions, which included Hope, Boredom and Pride, among others.
It is also worth mentioning that “Funny Mind” already had a following. Pixar released a short film, “Riley’s First Date?”, As a bonus DVD of the film, which showed the little girl a little older and waiting for her first date with a potential boyfriend.
The release of “Inside Out 2” is scheduled for 2024.
