As part of the D23 event organized by Disney, the firm announced with much fanfare the start of construction on the second part of Vice Versa!
In 2015, Vice Versa became a worldwide hit and grossed $858 million. In France, the Pixar film attracts 4.5 million viewers.
Despite this huge success, a sequel was never considered… until today! During the D23 event, Disney officially announced Vice Versa 2. This second opus will be released in the summer of 2024. It must explore Riley’s adolescence, combining new emotions with those already present in the first episode.
In terms of production, we will no longer find the authors of the first film, Pete Docter and Ronaldo del Carmen. Kelsey Mann replaces the directing duo, which will be written by Meg Lefau, who already wrote the screenplay for Vice Versa in 2015.
Note that there are rumors of an entirely new character for this second episode. Last year, Pixar was looking for a voice to play a young transgender girl for the project.
The character was named Jessie (not Riley). Will this casting announcement hide Vice Versa 2, thus raising questions about sexual identity? Please respond shortly as we learn more about the story.
Either way, “Joey” voice actress Amy Poehler will return. See you in the summer of 2024 for new adventures in the center of our emotions!
