The indie horror “X – The Mark of Death”, directed by Ti West (“The Last Sacrament”), will have a new sequel and become a trilogy. The announcement was made by studio A24, which will produce the new film, and was accompanied by a teaser (see below). The preview was shown during the Toronto Film Festival after the closing credits of “Pearl”, the second feature film.
Titled “MaXXXine”, the third feature will be a direct continuation of “X – The Mark of Death” – “Pearl” was a prologue, set in the psychopath’s youth from the first film.
Unlike “Pearl”, which was shot alongside “X”, the new film hasn’t been shot yet, but shooting is expected to start soon, as the teaser announces a “soon” release.
Plot details have also been released, but the video suggests we will see “last girl” Maxine (again played by Mia Goth) enjoying the success of the huge home video market that exploded in the 1980s. she was introduced as an adult film actress in the late 1970s, during a production made on a farm – which becomes the scene of a bloody massacre.
“MaXXXine” doesn’t have a premiere date yet.
