Morgan Alvaro will land in the United States! Newen, the company behind the TF1 series, recently announced in a press release that the US version of the HPI will soon see the light of day.
The rights to adapt the fictional book worn by Audrey Fleuro have indeed been sold to ABC Signature, a production and distribution company of the Walt Disney Group. Also, according to the press release, the adaptation works of the scenarios have already started. The showrunner, writing team and cast are yet to be announced.
“HPI is an incredible international adventure, and the subject of its exploitation in the United States has appeared very quickly” explained Rodolphe Bouet, CEO of Newen Connect. “The enthusiasm of the ABC Signature teams and their discussions with the producers convinced us that they could bring additional influence to the series and allow the original TF1 creation to bring the colors and flair of the French production..”
“After the audience success of the first season, especially in Italy, Spain, Germany, sold 100 territories and this American partnership, HPI is one of the main series of the current audiovisual landscape and the years to come!“
For Newen, this American adaptation is a new step in the evolution of the series produced by Septembre Productions (Mediawan) and Route Productions (UGC). To date, HPI has been sold in over 105 territories internationally and has amassed over 175 million views worldwide.
This American version also won’t be the first iteration of the detective series to see the light of day, as the Czech and Slovak versions have already been filmed and should be released soon.
A real audience hit in France, where season 2 gathered an average of 8.14 million viewers, or 40.0% of the public and 47.7% of the FRDA-50, so this announcement of an American remake is not a big surprise.
Now it remains to be seen in which city the plot will take place, which, as you will recall, takes place in Lille in the original series, and above all, which stars of American television will play the roles of Audrey Fleuro and Mehdi Nebo.
For latecomers, HPI seasons 1 and 2 are fully available on the Salto platform. Season 1 is also available on Disney+.
