“Fairy Tale”, the latest book by famous author Stephen King, has just arrived in the bookstore, but has already acquired the rights for another adaptation of the work of the King of Terror.
Director Paul Greengrass, of whom King is an avowed fan, will adapt the work, which was released just 10 days ago, on September 6. The book is a dark fantasy that follows a young man who inherits a magical key, which leads him to a mythical and dangerous land.
In addition to directing the film, Greengrass will produce alongside Greg Goodman. The author of famous books that have become even more famous adaptations such as “It” and “Carrie” spoke about the collaboration with the director. “It goes without saying that I am a fan of Paul Greengrass and I think he is a wonderful choice for this film,” said the author.
In turn, Greengrass praised King’s work. “’Fiaba’ is a brilliant work. A classic adventure story and a disturbing contemporary allegory. “The book has in fact received positive reviews from critics and is already the number 1 book among the best sellers of The New York Times.
The book follows Charlie Reade, a 17-year-old student athlete, going through a difficult time with the death of his mother and his father’s alcoholism. Charlie then proceeds to run errands for Mr. Bowditch. When the strange old man dies, Charlie inherits his dog and a key to a portal that leads to another world, which is inside Mr. Bowditch. The young man thus finds himself in the middle of a battle between good and evil in a strange world of which he becomes a part.
Greengrass is a successful director, best known for directing several films in the Bourne saga, including “The Bourne Supremacy” (2004), “The Bourne Ultimatum” (2007) and “Jason Bourne” (2016). In addition, Greengrass was responsible for directing the thriller “United Flight 93” (2006) and the 2020 film with Tom Hanks, “Reports from the World”.
Stephen King, meanwhile, is one of the most beloved horror writers of all time. The so-called “King of Terror” has sold more than 350 million copies of his 64 published novels. Additionally, King has published more than 200 short stories. At the moment, there are several adaptations of King’s works on the way, such as “Salem’s Lot”, “The Boogeyman” and “Mr. Harrigan”, which yesterday won a Netflix trailer.
With the book “Fairy Tale” still a newcomer to bookstores, so far there are no great details on the adaptation, let alone an advertised release window.
