Orlando Bloom joins the movie “Gran Turismo”

Actor Orlando Bloom (from the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and “Carnival Row” series) has joined the cast of the “Gran Turismo” movie, based on the PlayStation racing game.

He will join David Harbor (“Stranger Things”) and Archie Madekwe (“See”) in the production, which will not be a literal adaptation of the game, but a plot based on a true story, about a teenage player of “Gran Turismo”, whose playing skills have seen him win numerous Nissan competitions and become a true professional driver.

Katy Perry’s boyfriend will play a marketing executive who sees potential in the young pilot, played by Madekwe. Harbor’s role will be that of a retired driver who will teach the youngster about the tracks.

Filming is expected to begin next week in Europe for a theatrical release in August 2023.

Orlando Bloom will soon be seen in the comedy “Wizards!”, By David Michôd (“The King”), and in the second season of “Carnival Row”, both already filmed, but still without a preview date.
