“City of God” could become a series with a new cast

One of Brazil’s most famous films, “City of God”, could become a series. According to the newspaper O Globo, the producers are negotiating with HBO Max to make a new adaptation of Paulo Lins’ 1997 novel that inspired the 2002 film.

The idea is to make a miniseries with a new cast and writers.

The original feature film screened several famous actors today, such as Leandro Firmino, Jonathan Haagensen, Douglas Silva, Alexandre Rodrigues and even Seu Jorge and Alice Braga in their first films.

The production was nominated for an Oscar in 2004 in the categories of Best Director (Fernando Meirelles), Best Non-Original Screenplay (Bráulio Montovani), Best Editing (Daniel Rezende) and Best Cinematography (César Charlone).
