Inspector Gadget With A Scary Gun: How Does Our Childhood Cartoon End?

“Hey who goes there (Inspector Gadget) So are you okay? (Oh, oh)!” Inspector Gadget is a cartoon created between the US, France, Canada and Japan and is an original creation by Bruno Bianchi, Andy Hayward and Jean Chalopen. The series was broadcast in France on FR3 from 1983 (the release date of the cartoon), then on Club Dorothée in 1991, and on various cable channels since then.

The principle is always the same: Dr. Gang tries to kill Gadget or plans a crime, which little Sophie and her dog Finotti, with whom she can mysteriously communicate, prevent. During this time, the inspector will make mistake after mistake and collect all the laurels.

The last episode is in the 86th series. It closes out the second season and the rather poetic title Gadget and the Red Rose.

This final episode opens with Inspector Gadget inspecting a “Gajuka” (a contraction of Gadget and Bazooka), along with Super Capeman, a vigilante allied with Gadget (whom he’s a big fan of) and introduced since the beginning of Season 2. The gun allows you to disintegrate the target by shooting whipped cream.

For his part, Dr. Gang is also looking for a terrible weapon and finds it thanks to the red rose invented by Patet Malone. The gang calls the “Bad Boys Nursing Home” and offers the retired Potato to use his legendary weapon on the gadget. It turns out that Patate once committed a terrible massacre (by throwing tomatoes at the crooks), which was witnessed only by Gadget, then a child in his stroller. That’s why the ex-assassin gets it.

Gadget is informed by “Le Chef”, his boss, that Patate is on his trail and the Red Rose must be recovered. Together with Capeman, he begins an investigation into a nursing home for bad boys. Sophie and Fino followed him carefully as usual to keep an eye on the fight.

While Patet returns to his childhood neighborhood to find the red rose in his old lair, Gadget multiplies disaster in his investigation, mistaking the dog Phinos for Patet Malone and giving chase.

Patate has a series of disappointments as the places he knew as a child and his various attractions have been replaced by a market or an apartment building and the Red Rose remains out of reach. Chased by Gadget and Capeman, Fino is thrown into the trailer of a truck believed to belong to Pat Maloney and his accomplices. Unbeknownst to them, Gadget and Capeman are once again on the trail of a criminal.

After being hit in the head, Patate remembers where the red rose is hidden. Sophie, on the other hand, has already found the weapon and is doing the modification herself. When Potato arrives and tries to use his machine gun, it explodes and spits out a smelly brown substance.

Gadget and Capeman used Gadguk on Finnott, who was driving the cart disguised as a lady, destroying the cart. Fino narrowly (and cautiously) gets out of it, and the Chief arrives and applauds the investigative work of Gadget and his sidekick, as Malone and his accomplices may be locked up.

As for Dr. Geng, he flies the area in his plane, finds the situation lost, and worries that he’ll find the gadget too soon…which never happens, because it’s the end of the series.
