The “Cloverfield” franchise will have a new sequel, produced by directors JJ Abrams (“Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”) and Matt Reeves (“Batman”), respectively producer and director of the first film.
The details of the plot are kept under wraps. It is only known that the new film was written by Joe Barton (“The Lazarus Project”) and will be directed by Babak Anvari, from “Under the Shadow” (2016) and “Visceral Contact” (2019).
Released in 2008, “Cloverfield: Monster” is a sci-fi horror film shot in found footage format, showing the destruction caused by a giant monster through footage made by one of the characters.
The film grossed over $ 170 million at the box office and kicked off the career of director Matt Reeves, who later directed the acclaimed “Let Me In” (2010), “Planet of the Apes: Clash” (2014). ), “Planet of the Apes: War” (2017) and “Batman” (2022).
The feature film also had two sequels, the good “10 Cloverfield Street” (2016), which modified an existing script to fit the “Cloverfield” universe, and the feeble “The Cloverfield Paradox” (2018), a famous project. for its marketing strategy – the first trailer for the film was released during the intermission of the Super Bowl, accompanied by the news that the public could watch the production on the same day, on Netflix.
