AlloCiné: You arrived here everything starts in early 2021. What is your assessment of the year and a half that has just passed?
Axel Dodier : This is a great experience. Humanly speaking, this is incredible. We are lucky to work with very kind and caring people. As an actor, I am learning a lot, I am very lucky. And then we realize that the series is a real phenomenon. So many people follow us every night. It’s pretty crazy.
Kelly has undergone a great evolution since entering the series. He completed his studies at the institute and is now in his second year. Did you know from the beginning that he wanted to join the ranks of the school as a student?
No, I didn’t know that. At first, Kelly was a mysterious character, I didn’t really know what to expect.
And after a few months, people started telling me that he might be taking the institute exam, but he wasn’t sure. And when I heard that he was really going to enter the institute and become a student, I was happy. She is a character that I adore and her development is so beautiful. I am too proud.
The mother-daughter relationship between Laetitia and Kelly is so beautiful, so touching. Did you and Florence Cost hit it off right away when you started touring together?
Immediately. momentarily. It was quite magical. Florence and I fell in love very quickly and very hard. I am very lucky to be traveling with him.
How about what’s in store for Kelly in the next few episodes? Will there be turmoil in her relationship with Lionel?
No, Lionel and Kelly are still madly in love. This is not expected to change at this time. And all the better because I love Lucien Bellevue who plays Lionel. That’s why I’m happy to play with him.
After that, I can say that the next episodes will pretty much revolve around my character. We will be interested in his family and identity. Kelly wants to know who her father is.
So Tony isn’t her father?
I don’t know (laughs). You’ll have to watch Here It All Begins to find out. But either way, Kelly will start looking for her origins, that’s for sure. Asking his father will become very important to him, it will become like an obsession. He really wants to know who his father is.
Are you glad the writers are finally digging into Kelly’s background and the identity of her father?
of course. This is a golden thread. He arrives in the series, he does not have a father. I was sure this was going to be addressed at some point, so I’m glad it finally ended today.
Do you hope to have some more kitchen sequences in the series in the future?
Yes, because that’s also one of the things Kelly is about: her genius in the kitchen. He has this genius, this creativity, so I can’t wait to see it in his home.
Are there any actors you would have liked to have worked with more, or with whom you may have never had the opportunity to share scenes with?
I would love to work with Julien Aluget, who plays Chef Landiras, because I love him. Virgin with Cagliari, who plays Listrac’s chef. with Marvin Pellegrino playing Mehdi. And with Benjamin Baroche, who plays Teyssier. I enjoyed shooting with Benjamin, it’s always great to share scenes with him. But there are really many.

Do you have a favorite story from the beginning?
What is coming is not bad at all. And he is very, very good (laughs). But otherwise, I really enjoyed filming the “cheating” storyline where Kelly helps Lionel pass the tests. Including the beginning of a love story. We got to see another side of Kelly. And the love story was very well shot, very cute. I really enjoyed shooting this arch.
Among your co-stars, who did you bond with the most on set?
With Florence Cost, who plays my mother. And with Kathy Pakyanathan, who plays the role of Deva. These are my two columns.
So do you wish Kelly and Deva had more scenes on the show?
Yes, of course. But it’s a friendship that starts to develop as we start to see them together more and more. So I hope it continues because I love playing with Katie and I think it’s a duo and a friendship that works well on screen.
Do you have any Here It All Begins projects that you can tell us about?
At the moment I am very focused on where it all begins. This is a series that takes a lot of time and I want to be completely focused on it. I still have bullets in the pipeline for a few projects, but at the moment, nothing is finalized, nothing is fixed, so I prefer not to talk about it.
