October 3 on TNT comes the comedy series “Nina” from showrunner Zhora Kryzhovnikov. This is a story about a woman who is forced to start a new life after her husband decides to get a divorce. The situation is further complicated by the fact that Nina has to keep three of her children and two former spouses under her wing.
Showrunner – Zhora Kryzhovnikov
Director, screenwriter and producer Zhora Kryzhovnikov has long established himself as a master of creating high-quality comedy. One can recall a huge number of films and series to which he had a hand, but for an ideal presentation, perhaps, two parts of the cult folk hit “Bitter” will suffice. Nina, of course, differs significantly in tone, but it still maintains the perfect balance of comedy and drama.
Zhora Kryzhovnikov is a guarantor of quality, because I trust him unconditionally, his taste and talent. He has a clear vector that he adheres to. It seems to me that his creative hymn – “through laughter to tears”, which is also very close to me, – Sergey Burunov describes Kryzhovnikov’s approach.
In “Nina” there is everything for which the audience loves Kryzhovnikov: an unusual, but at the same time real story, bright and characteristic characters, verified and very funny dialogues. Each viewer will be able to draw something of their own from this story: from family values to personal restructuring.

Nina is not a superhero, but an ordinary woman who is not afraid of her weaknesses
When you first get acquainted with any project, one way or another, you pay attention to the central character. In the case of Nina, played by Victoria Isakova, especially because the series is named after the heroine. The background of the main character is such that the viewer has the right to expect another story about a strong and independent woman who heroically pulls everyone and everything on herself. And how else, if “on the neck” of Nina, in fact, there are not only three children, but also two ex-husbands after the current spouse finds a new love for himself.
But Nina is different. She is not afraid to admit her own weakness, and this is precisely the strength of the heroine. She does not hesitate to admit that she is scared, hard and painful, but at the same time she accepts new challenges that fate sets before her. And at first glance it is difficult to say where Nina will lead her adventure.

Powerful cast and the most unusual role of Burunov
The series has a powerful cast, and watching the work of each member of the team is a real pleasure. Sergey Burunov plays an eccentric professor in the most unusual role for himself “on high vibrations” – in the best traditions of Soviet masters like Vladimir Etush or Leonid Kuravlev. Sergey Lavygin surprisingly accurately plays the throwing of a would-be businessman who is always looking for profit, Andrey Burkovsky opposes the Nordic character of his character to Nina’s two active ex-husbands with restrained acting in the style of Ryan Gosling: Kostya does not need to talk much to be convincing in his feelings and emotions. And Victoria Isakova, as the main character, brings a lyrical mood to the overall comedic action with her organic dramatic actress.
The authors in the lead roles initially saw just those actors who eventually played in the series. And the fact that each of the artists accepted this challenge for themselves indicates that they believed in the project, finding interesting acting tasks in it.
Firstly, I am very flattered that Zhora Kryzhovnikov wrote this role for me. Apparently, he knows me very well as an artist, which is very nice. Secondly, there are always some moments for internal overcoming, because the image must be groped, to understand the logic of the character’s actions: where are his pain points, how does he react to what. It seems to me that we did all this under the clear guidance of Zhora Kryzhovnikov, and a very interesting person turned out, – Sergey Burunov admits.

Layered story for different audiences
“Nina” is not only a women’s story, as you might think. Yes, the series connects the viewer to the main character one hundred percent due to the fact that the narrative revolves around her, and at the end of each episode, Nina dramatically looks into the camera, as if breaking the fourth wall and addressing the viewer directly. At the same time, “Nina” is, first of all, a universal universal story about how to build your life anew.
In addition, in the gallery of images of the series there are also the children of the main character – characters whose lines in the overall outline of the narrative are as important as the stories of adults. The problems of growing up, self-identification and separation are another important component of the story, which is also interesting for a younger audience. “Nina” is such a multi-layered cake that everyone can find a piece for themselves in it.

regional flavor
In the past few years, there has been a clear trend in Russian cinema towards a regional flavor, which allows films and series to be closer to the audience. Moscow and St. Petersburg are no longer the only points on the map of Russia where interesting stories can unfold. That is why the story from the series “UZZZ”, for example, takes place in Rostov-on-Don, and Nizhny Novgorod becomes the center of the story of “Nina”.
We have already seen the lower one on the screens in “Blind Man’s Buff”, “On the Game”, “Method” and “I’m Losing Weight”. Now it will become an important moment for creating the entourage in the series “Nina”. Viewers will not only see the bidding plans of the city, but will also hear the real names of several city locations.
