Interview with the Vampire: The series was renewed for a second season even before its launch

A few days before its US launch, AMC has just announced that Interview with the Vampire, a TV series adapted from the novel. interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice, has already been renewed for a 2nd season.

It was the first rave reviews for the series that led to this pre-order, just days before its October 2 release. This second burst of 8 episodes will take place in Europe, and showrunner Rollin Jones (writer of Weeds and Friday Night Lights) will continue to oversee the series.

Dan McDermott, president of programming for AMC Networks and AMC Studios, said in a statement:This is just the beginning of a whole world featuring exciting stories and characters that reflect the spirit of Anne Rice’s incredible work.

This is the second adaptation of Anne Rice’s novel in daylight. In 1994, Neil Jordan offered his own version of the story in Interview with the Vampire, a now cult film starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Kirsten Dunst.

In this new iteration, Jacob Anderson, aka Ver Gris in Game of Thrones, will play the role of Louis de Pointe du Lac, while Sam Reid (The Riot Club) will have the heavy lifting of the charismatic Lestat. Bailey Bass (Avatar: Waterway) and Eric Bogosian (NYC) round out the cast.

At the moment, the French broadcasting channel has not been announced.
