In a recent interview, Christian Bale was asked which character he wanted to live in the “Star Wars” franchise, and the answer was a Stormtrooper, the common soldiers of the Galactic Empire.
However, this isn’t just a Stormtrooper, but a specific – and not-so-special – one seen in the franchise. “All I’ve ever wanted in Star Wars is to wear a Star Wars outfit and hit my head against a door or something as I pass by,” Bale said.
“Real nerds who have seen Star Wars often always knew about that scene where the Stormtrooper bangs his head on the door as he walks in,” he continued. “I wanted to be that guy. That’s all.
While it’s just a funny moment in the film, and the character has nothing to do with the grand scheme of things in the franchise, the scene in question, which is part of the 1977 first “Star Wars”, is quite famous among the fan.
The identity of the actor who played the clumsy Stormtrooper in question was never revealed by Lucasfilm. In 2019, a fan-created documentary titled “The Empire Strikes Door” attempted to identify the identity of the Stormtrooper in question.
So, given that Christian Bale calls himself a huge “Star Wars” fan, it’s no complete surprise that he chose the goofy Stormtrooper. But Bale talked even more about being more than just a supporting character in the story.
“But look, if I’m lucky enough to be more than that, oh man, yeah. What a delight that would be, ”Bale continued. “I still have the action figures from when I was little. I also know Kathy Kennedy very well because she was working with Spielberg when I did Empire of the Sun and now she runs the Star Wars universe. “
Christian Bale knows what it’s like to join big franchises. First, he played Batman in DC’s “The Dark Knight” trilogy. Bale recently made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the movie “Thor: Love and Thunder” as Gorr, the Butcher of the Gods. In an interview he stated that it is easier to play villains than heroes.
