A true monument of science fiction, the first installment of the Wachowski-produced “Matrix” saga in 1999 nevertheless contains a few minor errors. Let’s go back to one of the most important of them…
Directed by Wachowski in 1999, starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne and Carrie-Anne Moss, the first part of the Matrix saga celebrated a whole generation of viewers with its uncompromising script and revolutionary special effects.
But for all its undoubted qualities, this feature film, which is one of the essentials of science fiction today, also has a few minor errors, vague or false connections.
About 1 hour and 10 minutes into the movie, in the scene where Neo and Morpheus visit the Oracle, we get one of the most impressive of them all. As Michelle and Michelle didn’t specify in their Matrix-themed show, this gaffe is right under our noses, but you’ve probably never noticed.
As you can see, if you press “pause” at the right time, i.e. when Neo is about to put his hand on the front door button, a huge camera is visible on the reflection of the metallic handle.
We can also note that the technicians of the feature film – probably knowing that this detail would be seen as the nose at the middle end of the figure – took care to hide the camera in a cover painted in the same color. Morpheus costume, background. A little trick that allowed them to cover up this anomaly if they couldn’t avoid it.
However, this misstep is far from the film’s only misstep. Indeed, we note for example that in the same sequence Morpheus no longer wears his glasses from one shot to the next.
Moreover, in the interrogation scene at the beginning of the featurette, Neo remains in the reflection of Smith’s glasses, even though he got up seconds earlier. and during a known sequence lead timeThe weapon he threw to the ground disappears for the duration of the shot, pure and simple.
