The final episode of the first season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” arrives on Prime Video this Friday (14). After all the construction and presentation of a fantasy universe, a thrilling battle and several mysteries, what can fans expect from the final episode?
Several issues were left open for resolution in the final episode. It is possible that not all of these issues will be resolved, as the series will continue beyond the first season. However, we should have answers to at least some of them after this Friday’s episode.
What will happen to the Stranger?
One of the biggest questions of the first season seems to be very close to its resolution: the identity of the Stranger (Daniel Weyman), the figure who literally fell from the sky next to the hairy feet. From all that has been presented so far, the Stranger is probably an unidentified wizard, possibly one of the Blue Wizards, figures featured in JRR Tolkien’s stories.
However, it is no longer just about the identity of the Stranger, but also about a sinister trio that are looking for him. Are they part of any cult that Morgoth worships? What do they want from the Stranger?
On the other hand, what will become of the small expedition of hairy feet that goes out in search of the “giant” who has become a friend of the group. Will they be able to find the Stranger in front of the three mysterious (and powerful) figures?
Who is the real Halbrand?
The question here could also be: “Is it Halbrand Sauron?”. I think the answer could be yes. With so many mysteries surrounding the character, the writers seem to set the stage for a narrative twist, with the young king of the Southlands being, in fact, the evil that Galadriel so fears and tries to fight.
Some signs point to this, such as his excellent smithing skills, something he shares with Sauron, and his propensity for violence. He also admits that he has a dark past and has a history in common with Adar (Joseph Mawle), but his elven father turned orcs does not recognize him, which could mean that Sauron took this new human form to hide.
Another important point is that Galadriel brings an injured Halbrand to Lorien at the end of episode seven. In the books, Sauron in disguise deposits the idea of forging the rings of power in the mind of Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards), the elven blacksmith, whom Halbrand may be about to meet. If the two develop a dialogue that starts from the creation of the rings, it will be possible to say that Halbrand is Sauron.
There are other theories as to who he might be, including one indicating that Halbrand is the ghost king Aragorn recruits to help in the battle in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, and another that he is the leader of the Nazgul.
What will happen to Númenor?

After the events of episodes six and seven, Númenor’s envoys, including Queen Regent Miriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), return home. Miriel lost sight of her during her passage through the Southern Lands, fulfilling her father’s prophecy that “only darkness” awaited her in Middle-earth.
The Queen Regent has promised to return to continue the battle that has begun. But the Númenóreans had a terrible experience in their passage through Middle-earth, including irreparable losses. Elendil (Lloyd Owen) appears to be extremely resentful of the queen after her son, Isildur, is presumed to have died.
We may have a political dispute in Númenor, with a high chance that Pharazon (Trystan Gravelle) and his views against alliances with the elves will take hold. If Pharazon could turn the people of Númenor against their Queen, making her break the oath made to Galadriel and Middle-earth, we could see the prophecy of Númenor’s destruction come true, as oaths are sacred in this universe.
Also, Isildur disappeared in the last episode, but it is very likely that he is not dead, as he will play a pivotal role in the history of Middle-earth.
Will Celeborn appear?

Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) made a huge revelation when she hinted that her husband, Celeborn, is dead, saying he went to war and never came back. However, Celeborn appears in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, thousands of years into the future, so we can assume that Galadriel is wrong on this subject.
After the mention of Celeborn, it can be said with certainty that he will appear at some point in the story. But will this happen now? And where was the elf all this time? There is a theory among fans that the series could borrow aspects of another character, Glorfindel, and place them in Celeborn.
Glorfindel was an elven warrior who died while fighting a balrog. But the Valar were so impressed by his selfless sacrifice that they later brought him back to life. “The Rings of Power” may have brought the two characters together into one, or Celeborn may have kept himself alive, perhaps imprisoned.
Prime Video receives the final episode of the first season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” this Friday (14), at 1am.
