Syndrome E on TF1: Will there be a season 2?

A final round of applause for the E syndrome. The detective series, adapted from the novel of the same name by Frank Tillis, which is available in its entirety from this summer on Salto, concludes tonight on TF1 with the final two episodes, which will answer many of the questions raised from the beginning.

In search of the truth, Lucy (Jennifer Dekker) travels to Montreal and manages to track down the little girls we saw in the old 60s movie that turned Hannabel. Unaware of the dark secrets still buried in his past.

As for Charcot (Vincent Elbaz), he tries to track down Walid, a young Moroccan guinea pig who has traveled to France for a mysterious “ultimate experience” and in turn gets kidnapped. Also immerse yourself in this famous ultimate experience piloted by the Moro Foundation, where viewers will finally understand the gruesome motives.

If Syndrome E has the right to a real conclusion, TF1 and production have never hidden that their desire from the start was to adapt other Frank Tillis novels with Charcot and Hennebel.

During the series’ presentation at Series Mania last March, it was announced that a season 2 was already in development. Hence the subtitle “The Charcot and Hennebel Investigation” which appears in the initial articles on Syndrome E and which suggests that other investigations, divided into seasons, are sure to follow.

“They are already working on a sequel, this time adapted from Frank Tilley’s novel Atomka”A few months ago, we entrusted the microphone to Vincent Elbaz, who seems ready to re-enter the shoes of Franck Charcot.

“Matthew Misoff, the screenwriter, is very good at adapting Tilley’s world. We trust him. (…) Shooting E Syndrome went really well, it was great working with Lord De Butler (director, editor’s note. ), so on paper, yes, I’m ready to continue. But it’s always the same: we’re waiting for the script. It’s hard to commit before reading”.

In development for several months, will this season 2 see the light of day? I am not convinced. Indeed, Syndrome E achieved disappointing scores on TF1 after its September 29 launch.

The first two episodes of the thriller directed by Vincent Elbaz, Jennifer Dekker, Emmanuelle Bearth, Kool Shen, Berenger Krief and Michel Bernier actually averaged only 3.07 million viewers, with a market share of 17.5% in the general public and 19.7%. % among women responsible for purchases under the age of fifty (FRDA-50). Slightly lower numbers in terms of viewership and TF1’s commercial target.

And it didn’t improve last Thursday either, averaging 2.30 million subscribers before episodes 3 and 4. This represents only 13.6% of the general public and 15.4% of female shoppers under the age of fifty. Indicator at which TF1 was overtaken by M6.

Fortunately, the E syndrome can count on very effective replication. The first episode on D+7 won 830,000 curious people and now has a total of 4.3 million viewers. While Episode 2’s audience share increased to 27% of the FRDA-50 commercial target.

But will it be enough to “save” the series and allow thriller fans to discover Atomka on TF1 soon? future will show. Even if it’s pretty badly turned on at the moment. Proof that the Society of One is not yet ready for such dark and brazen fantasy? And that the French want comedy more in this period, when the news is more difficult and gloomy?
