At Saint-Exupery High School, he unknowingly endangers the lives of those around him, starting with Maxime’s.
Because on that night in December 1996, Thomas and Maxime committed the murder and disposed of the body in the high school gymnasium, which will be destroyed in the coming days. How will the two friends manage to deal with the situation? It seems that everything is connected to Vinka’s disappearance. A disappearance that Thomas still doesn’t want to solve…
Adapted from Guillaume Musso’s best-selling novel of the same name. A Young Girl and the Night is a work of fiction divided into six 52-minute episodes. But will this transposition on the small screen satisfy the readers of the original work? Is the TV version really different from the book?
During the press conference, the author and Sidney Gallond, the producer of the series, expressed some of the differences that exist between the two formats. Nevertheless, they strongly emphasized that although the plot is more choral than in the novel, it remains essentially the same.
As Sydney Gallond explains:We were able to find a way to advance the story for all the characters, not just the main character. This is what makes it a true original creation.“Therefore, a notorious change, but one which Guillaume Mousseau did not perceive as an insult to his work.
Indeed, the writer reveals that to get “A piece of betrayal“In the adaptation process:”This is complementarity. My version of the story was written by me and read by millions of people. My novel exists and will continue to live.“
“I know that there are readers who want the simple environment of images, or that they scrupulously respect the work. it is their right he recognizes. But when I like a book and go see an adaptation, I don’t necessarily expect it to be a simple transposition. I’m very comfortable with that.“
Despite this difference, Guillaume Mousseau notes that the television version of La Jeune fille est la nuit is largely the model for his novel: “I spend time refusing adaptations (…) these are often requests for the wrong reasons. With Sydney, it was for good reason.“
“From the moment you know the spirit of the novel is respected, the rest is in the details. I am sure that overall readers will be happy“- says the author. Results to watch from 21:10 on France 2, Monday 17 October.
