Tonight on TV: This movie will do you good!

Every day, AlloCiné recommends watching a movie (again) on TV. Tonight: A feature film set in the world of dance, where Pio Marmay, François Civil and Muriel Robin surround the young Marion Barbeau.

Passionate about dance, Cédric Klapisch signed the 2010 documentary “Aurélie Dupont, l’espace d’un instant” dedicated to the star dancer of the Paris Opera Ballet. Eight years later, he made a recording called “Four Modern Dancers”, where he met the Israeli dancer and choreographer Hofesh Shechter, with whom he formed a real connection. This meeting is accompanied by the desire to make a feature film about dance in twenty years.

So began the filmmaker in 2022 with En Corps: the story of Elisa, a great classical dancer who, after an injury, rebuilds herself in a modern dance company. Marion Barbeau, first dancer at the Paris Opera, plays her first film role here, surrounded by a strong supporting cast (Dennis Podalides, Muriel Robin, Francois Civil, Pio Marmay and Suheila Yacoub).

With contrasting visions such as Black Swan, which depict dance through the prism of suffering and rivalry, Cédric Clappish dwells on the notion of pleasure – the dancer surpassing himself and the audience admiring him. Witness this 15-minute opening sequence, devoid of dialogue, devoted to dance. Bodies in motion captured in a rare fluid embody an absolutely immeasurable vitality. With an average viewer rating of 4.2 out of 5, in the body is Cédric Klapisch’s favorite feature film by AlloCiné internet users.
