Although ‘Euphoria’ actress Hunter Schafer wants to play Princess Zelda in a live-action adaptation, Nintendo has not yet announced that it is working on bringing the video game to theaters or making a series.
Even in February 2021, comedian and actor Adam Conover revealed to The Serf Times that in 2010 he was working at College Humor and was told by one of his bosses that the projects they were going to do with Nintendo were cancelled.
It was all because someone had leaked to the media that Netflix and Nintendo had been in talks for a “The Legend of Zelda” themed series, but once they heard about the leak, the video game company lost confidence and canceled everything.
However, that didn’t stop fans from wanting to see a series about Link and the kingdom of Hyrule realized with flesh-and-blood actors. So one of them took matters into his own hands and created perfect cast posters for the series.
Tom Holland in live action ‘Zelda’. The posters show the ideal fancast
In a Facebook post by Dan Leveille on Sept. 13, the fan created a series of posters for a hypothetical live-action Netflix series based on the “Zelda” games and starring Tom Holland.
The realistic graphics match the actor with the signature look of the video game hero Link, from the pointy ears, blue eyes, light brown hair, to his classic green robes and hat.
To create the posters, the fan explains that he used the Midjourney AI image program, then made corrections with Tencent ARC, in addition to a lot of retouching with Photoshop.
Following the viralization of its images, with some media and fans even believing they were official Netflix images, on October 3 Dan Leveille released the rest of the cast posters.
In addition to Tom Holland as the hero Link, the posters show Emma Watson as Princess Zelda, in a style that combines her brown hair color from the game “Twilight Princess” and her look from “Breath of the Wild” .
While the villain of the series would be Ganon in his human version named Ganondorf. The poster shows actor Idris Elba (who can be seen in “American gangster”, available on ViX+) with red hair typical of the Gerudo tribe.
Other Dan Leveille actors in the live-action Zelda cast include Meryl Streep as Twinrova, the amalgamation of the two witches who were the stepmothers of Ganondorf, the only male Gerudo born in 100 years.
There’s also “Game of Thrones” actress Maisie Williams as Saria, Link’s childhood friend in “Ocarina of Time” who belongs to the Kokiri tribe, who live in the forest and look like children all their lives.
The fan includes a poster featuring Danny DeVitto as the character Tingle, a grown man who is convinced that he is actually a fairy.
Jameela Jamil, who just appeared in “She-Hulk” as Titania, appears as Urbosa, a Gerudo who in “Breath of the Wild” is one of the four champions who wield the Divine Beasts. Although in the battle against Ganon he loses his life.
Finally, the fancast features two other characters who debuted in Nintendo 64’s ‘Ocarina of Time’ and have appeared in other titles. First there’s Dampé, a graveyard keeper who would be played by Steve Buscemi.
And “Stranger Things” star Sadie Sink, in her poster looks like Malon, the daughter of a rancher, who with her melodious voice and a song can calm the mare Epona, whom Link as an adult manages to calm . and tame playing the same song.
