The first part of our trilogy of quizzes dedicated to the three original films of the Star Wars saga. We begin, of course, with Episode IV, which was released 45 years ago in France. Do you have any hope of realizing perfection?
It was in the early 1970s that George Lucas conceived what would become the global success saga we know today. The first script was written in May 1973, and the success of another film by the director, American Graffiti, released in August of that year, finally convinced Fox to finance this space opera project.
In early versions of the script, Luke and Han Solo go to rescue Luke’s brother, Dec, who is being held captive by Darth Vader. The second time, there is talk of replacing the young hero with a princess, but eventually Dec will disappear from the final story.
Filming took place between March and July 1976 between Tunisia, the planet Tatooine, England and the United States during the final days of filming. To create many special effects scenes, which will be necessary to generate the trilogy, George Lucas creates his own company Industrial Light & Magic, located in the suburbs of Los Angeles.
It was on May 25, 1977 that the bewildered American public was able to discover the beginning of this unprecedented cinematography. The film features many heroes – Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, Obi Wan and the two famous robots R2D2 / C-3PO – in a united effort to end the will of Darth Vader and the hegemonic power of the Empire. .
The feature film would lead to two direct sequels in 1980 and 1983, as well as two new trilogies, one from the turn of the 2000s, the other from 2015, but also many series that originated from this universe. Rich and exciting.
So let’s go back to the first episode (in order of release), A New Hope, with this eight-question quiz to test if you still know the origins of the saga. May the force be with you!
