New Line will count on David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to develop the script for its new horror premiere.
Was there any doubt that the Warrens would return to bring us good doses of terror in theaters? Of course not. Nevertheless, confirmation that ‘The Warren File 4’ starts its production process has made those tireless fans of the famous horror movie franchise very happy.
New Line, the studio in charge of developing the saga, will feature David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick for the script process of its new premiere. It is not the first time that the screenwriter takes charge of the terrifying sequels of the Warren. Johnson-McGoldrick He already participated in ‘The Warren File 2: The Enfield Case’ (2016) and in ‘The Warren File: Forced by the Devil’. In addition, he has also signed the scripts for numerous projects for Warner Bros.: ‘Orphan’ (2009), ‘Aquaman’ and ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’, among others.
The usual ones will return to the command of the production James Wan and Peter Safran, who have known how to develop and guide all the premieres of the franchise. Right now, ‘The Nun 2’ is shooting in France, with Taissa Farmiga as the lead.
The ‘Conjuring Universe’ bases its films on real cases of paranormal activity studied by Ed and Lorraine Warren, who dedicated their lives to the investigation of this type of “unusual” situations. At the moment, nothing is known about the plot of the new installment.
Until now, Ed and Lorraine have been played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga (older sister of another of the protagonists of the Warren saga, Taissa), in the 3 previous premieres and in the spinoff, ‘Annabelle is coming home’. The logical thing would be for them to reprise their roles for this fourth film, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
It all stemmed from the 2013 movie, ‘The Warren File’, which grossed $320 million at the worldwide box office. Not bad considering that its production budget was 20 million. From the “summer hit” (an unusual release date, which allowed them to separate themselves from other big releases of the year), the horror universe we know today was born.
Its end date does not seem close. The shocks in the cinema seats continue to be guaranteed for another long season. It remains to discover what paranormal mysteries are presented on this new occasion.
‘Warren Files’ and ‘Warren Files: The Enfield Affair’ are available at streaming on HBO Max.
