In full promotion of ‘Avatar: The sense of water’, James Cameron criticizes the Marvel and DC characters: “they all act as if they were in college.”
Pandora’s box opens. James Cameron Criticizes Marvel and DC Comics Movies in full promotion of ‘Avatar: The sense of water’ (2022).
“Zoe and Sam are now parents, 15 years later,” he explains in an interview with New York Times. “In the first movie, Sam’s character jumps off his flying creature and basically changes the course of history as a result of this crazy, almost suicidal leap of faith. And Zoe’s character jumps off a branch and assumes there will be some nice big leaves down there that might break your fall. when you’re a father you don’t think like that. So for me, as a father of five children, I say: What happens when those characters mature and realize that they have a responsibility beyond their own survival?
“When I see these big, spectacular movies – I’m talking to you, Marvel and DC – it doesn’t matter what age the characters are, they all act like they’re in college,” says Cameron. “They have relationships but they don’t really. They never hang up their spurs for their children. The things that really ground us and give us power and love and purpose, those characters don’t experience, and I think that’s not the way to make movies.“.
For the past decade, ‘Avatar’ was the highest-grossing movie in history (until ‘Avengers: Endgame’ snatched the honor from it in 2019) and, while critics weren’t thrilled, seeing the production on the big screen, with its revolutionary effects, it was a truly immersive experience. As Jordi Costa wrote in the review of ‘Avatar’ in FOTOGRAMAS: “The exceptionality of ‘Avatar’ is not, in fact, in its conceptual aggressiveness – in other words: this is not ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ (Stanley Kubrick, 1968)–nor on the surfaces of its design (here, the shadow of Valerian, Mézières and Christin’s spatio-temporal agent, remains elongated). only numantine blindness could deny its foundational relevance by opening a new chapter of inexhaustible possibilities in the total (con)fusion of the photographic image and the synthesis image”.
The release date of ‘Avatar: The sense of water’ will be December 16, 2022. As confirmed from 20th Century Studios in early 2022, the date remains intact and there will be no further delays. We will have a Christmas in Pandora!
In addition, for those who wanted to return to the saga before time, on September 30 the first film, ‘Avatar’, was re-released in theaters, once again leading the box office in our country thirteen years after its original theatrical release. And we had a good surprise: the revival of ‘Avatar’ featured post-credits scenes from ‘The Sense of Water’.
