“People sometimes misinterpret how long it’s been since I haven’t done a romantic comedy, as if I don’t want to do one,” he explained. “If I had read something worthy of A place calledNotting Hill or the fun level of My Best Friend’s Wedding, I would do. They didn’t exist until [Ticket to Paradise].”

“The thing is, if I had thought something was good enough, I would have done it,” he added. “But I’ve also had three children in the last 18 years. This raises the bar even higher for quality because then it’s not just ‘is this material good?’.”
