‘House of the Dragon’: characters who will be important to the second season

Daeron Targaryens

However, it is clarified in the books that Alicent and King Viserys had another son named Daeron Targaryen, who was the most dignified, charismatic and collected of his siblings.

The writer confirmed that Daeron is in Oldtown while the events of the first season take place. In the books he serves there as a skier to his uncle Ormund Hightower and for the Dance of the Dragons he fights on Tessarion’s blue dragon.

Samwell Blackwood

In chapter four of “House of the Dragon” Rhaenyra was forced by her father Viserys to choose a husband, so a line of suitors from the Seven Kingdoms paraded before her.

One of them was the boy Samwell Blackwood, a descendant of Lucas Blackwood and the first men. But being a child, Rhaenyra took no notice of this and was taunted by those present, even leading to a duel in which she murdered a man of House Bracken.

Samwell Blackwood did not appear again in the series, but in the books and during A Dance with Dragons he was said to hold no grudge against Rhaenyra and swore allegiance to her seeing her as the true heir to the Iron Throne.

Samwell becomes head of House Blackwood and helps conquer the lands of House Bracken, who had allied with the usurper Aegon II.

Daemon seeks Mysaria, the White Worm, to move his connections and get the killers for revenge, but his actions are not against Aemond, but against one of the sons of King Aegon II and his sister / wife Helaena.

The characters Blood and Cheese are hired by Mysaria to commit the act of revenge. They infiltrate the Red Keep, trap Alicent Hightower and tie her up until Helaena enters the room with her children.

The cheese forces Helaena to choose which of her children will die or will they all die. Reluctantly, he chooses Maleor, but the assassin kills 6-year-old Jaehaerys and tells little Maleor to always remember that his mother chose him to die.

The assassins escape, and although Blood is eventually captured and tortured to reveal who hired them, the guards never find Cheese or Mysaria.

Cregan Stark

In the last episode of the first season, Rhaenyra sends her son Jacaerys to seek the favor of the lord of Winterfell and win the support of the Northern family, led by Cregan Stark.

In the upcoming civil war, the Starks become the greatest allies of the Blacks and Queen Rhaenyra, all thanks to Jacaerys and Cregan forming a great friendship.

The friends even make an agreement known as the Pact of Ice and Fire, in which Jacaerys promises that when she has her first daughter she will marry Rickon Stark, Cregan’s firstborn.

Nettles

When the Dance of Dragons is established, Daemon and Rhaenyra know that there are several unclaimed dragons, so they send out a call to anyone who can ride a dragon.

Among the people who appear is a young girl named Nettles, who manages to bond with the Sheepstealer, who got that name because he ate people’s sheep.

Nettles spent time feeding the dragon until they formed a bond, although the books do not specify her lineage, she is known to be a bastard of Valyrian descent, which is why she can ride dragons.

Nettles swears allegiance to Queen Rhaenyra, but in Dance with Dragons he forms a special bond with Daemon, which sparks rumors of an affair between them and trouble with the queen.
