We will not be able to count on Harrison Ford, unfortunately.
Disney+ plans a spin-off in serial format of the iconic “treasure hunter” Indiana Jones.
As reported exclusively Varietythe news came as a result of the premiere on the platform of the series ‘Willow’, (another expansion on the small screen of a cinematographic product).
Apparently, Disney Y lucasfilm have been toying with the idea of seeing Indy (named Dr. Henry Walton) in version streaming during several meetings and have since begun the search for a screenwriter for the project.
Of course, this would not be the first time that Indy has been transported to television, as ABC produced ‘The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles’ in the early 1990s, in addition to four specials that aired on free form.
In them, Sean Patrick Flanery (‘The Boys’), Corey Carrier (‘The Witches of Eastwick’) and George Hall (‘Big Daddy’) played the character at different stages of his life.
Nevertheless, after starring in five films – the latest one, ‘Indiana Jones 5’, by director James Mangold, which hits theaters next summer – is Harrison Ford the best known face, in charge of the whip.
Judging from the actor’s comments at this year’s D23 Expo, it appears he won’t be playing the globetrotter again if the series materializes.
As for the fifth film, Boyd Holbrook anticipated at the beginning of the year: “I can assure you that it will be impressive.”
“I was able to see almost half an hour when I was in LA and I met with him [Mangold]. Just look at his work: ‘Ford v Ferrari’; It’s going to be fast, it’s going to be amazing, it’s going to have heart. All of his movies have an emotional beat in them, but here too you’ll have the grand scale of ‘Indiana Jones’“.
‘Indiana Jones 5’ plans its premiere on June 23, 2023.
