Is this true?Could ‘Put yourself in my place’ have a sequel after all these years?Is there any movie left from the 90s/2000s that is not releasing its sequel or its remake in 2022? We better answer that at another time, but It seems that Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are very much in the business of bringing their characters back to life.
During the premiere of ‘Puñales por la Espalda 2’, Jamie Lee Curtis was interviewed by Variety about this and the actress seemed blunt in her response, stating: “There is no set date yet, but we are talking. The people are talking. The RIGHT people are talking.”
Beyond that, the actress also confirmed that she and her fictional daughter, Lohan, had spoken seriously about the issue last Sunday. “I’ll be 64 in a week and Lindsay is 36… A sequel would be lovely,Curtis commented.We are both ready for it, but it is not our decision. It is Disney who has to decide and I think they are interested and they are discussing it.“
Curtis has already brought back the ‘Halloween’ franchise, with which she finished collaborating (according to herself) in the latest release ‘Halloween: The End’, which hit theaters last October. If Disney executives take this into account, a second ‘Put yourself in my shoes’ movie doesn’t seem like such a far-fetched plan to carry out… Perhaps a multi-tape franchise? She asked the interpreter, to which she replied: “Let’s try to do at least one. It is still far.”
The proposal to resume ‘Put yourself in my place’ comes in parallel to the return of Lindsay Lohan to our screens, with the film ‘Christmas Hit’, in which she stars together with the ‘Glee’ actor, Chord Overstreet. In this tape we see her in the role of a young woman who suffers a ski accident and suddenly loses her memory. A Christmas love story will emerge as a result of this, in the style of some of the best Christmas movies in history.
‘Put yourself in my place’ reached the general public in 2003, based on the original novel by Mary Rodgers from 1972, entitled ‘Freaky Friday’ (name that the film shares in its original version). With a budget of $26 million, it went on to gross a total of $160 million at the worldwide box office. Curtis also received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance.
Maybe it’s time to see “mother and daughter” in action again. In a year in which we have been able to see the sequels to hits like ‘Top Gun’, with ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (and which plans to develop ‘Top Gun 3’); or others that will arrive soon like ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ and ‘Avatar 3’, continuing the adventures of Jake Sully in ‘Avatar’; It doesn’t seem so impossible to imagine that something like this could happen.
We will have to wait for Disney to make a move, or to put himself in our place and give us this sequel.
