In “Black Panther 2” Shuri (Letitia Wright) embraces her new role as the Black Panther, but to do so she goes through a journey of maturation and acceptance after the death of her brother T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman).
On her way to becoming Black Panther, Suri creates a synthetic version of the heart-shaped herb that gives Black Panther powers and uses it on herself to defeat Namor (Tenoch Huerta).
- Tenoch Huerta also stars in the movie “Colosio, the Murder” which you can watch for free on ViX.
Shuri has never been the biggest believer in Wakandan traditions and spiritual knowledge, but by drinking the herb’s juice she travels to the Ancestral Plains in search of wisdom from her ancestors.
There he finds himself with a surprise, because he was waiting to see his brother T’Challa to explain why he didn’t let him heal him or his mother to ask him to avenge his death. but who least imagined appears to him.
‘Black Panther 2’: Why Shuri Sees Killmonger on the Astral Plane?
Shuri is seated on the throne of Wakanda by his deceased cousin Eric Stevens aka Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), who in the first film usurped the throne and the mantle of Black Panther.
Killmonger in “Black Panther” burned the garden where the Heart-Shaped Grass grew and his plan was to start a war against the world as revenge for the years of mistreatment and slavery his people suffered.
As Shuri travels the astral plane consumed by her desire for revenge against Namor, Killmonger’s appearance is due to them having similar motivations and wanting to see the world burn regardless of the consequences.
Even Killmonger tells Shuri that she must decide whether to become an honorable and “weak” Black Panther like her brother and father, or adopt a vengeful and “strong” role like him.
Still as a villain, Killmonger’s appearance before Shuri serves to make the new Black Panther accept her destiny and finally realize what actions she must take for the good of Wakanda.
- Michael B. Jordan also stars in the movie Fruitvale Station, which you can also watch for free in Spanish on ViX.
‘Black Panther 2’: Killmonger’s connection to heart weed
The reappearance of Michael B. Jordan in “Black Panther 2,” who is one of the actors who got a second chance at superhero movies, is not only a simple surprise for fans, but it is based on the comics.
The decision to bring back Killmonger, in addition to showing his similarities to Shuri, ties into the comics because he was the one who invented heart-shaped synthetic weed.
In the comics, Erik Killmonger is much more than a mercenary and a brilliant general, he’s also something of a scientist, and seeing that he can’t achieve Black Panther’s powers naturally, he creates synthetic grass.
Heart-Shaped Grass in the comics doesn’t give anyone who consumes it powers, so Killmonger develops the synthetic version that not only works on him, but anyone.
Thus, in the comics, due to Killmonger’s actions, the character Kevin Cole becomes the hero White Tiger, which could appear in the third film “Black Panther” and mark another appearance on the astral plane of Killmonger.
