Felipe Conceição had a short and unsuccessful spell at Raposa in 2021

With a short spell and not much success at Cruzeiro, manager Felipe Conceição didn’t even come close to doing the great job of Paulo Pezzolano at Raposa. Even so, the former Celeste coach, recalling his time at Toca da Raposa, mentioned similarities in terms of the Uruguayan’s playing style.

The former Cruzeiro coach compares his work to that of Paulo Pezzolano: ‘Similar’

– My vision is an intense game, similar to Pezzolano’s, high intensity, a strong and aggressive transition game – said Conceição, in an interview with Portal Super sports cars.

However, then the coach reported that he had difficulty with human material at Cruzeiro. According to him, the players who were tested in the “number 10” position did not evolve within the proposed game model. Felipe Conceição has also stated that, in subsequent jobs in Cruzeiro, he was successful.

– (…) this traditional number 10 usually has some difficulty playing this type of game. I’ve had other positive experiences at Guarani, with ’10 shirts’, who have been successful within the game model, they have played well, they have evolved. It’s the game model, but it’s also what you have, the ‘tools’ (…). The model includes intense players, which make the collective very strong – he added -.

The coach left Cruzeiro in June 2021, after the catastrophic elimination in the Copa do Brasil against Juazeirense-BA. Overall there were 19 matches under the technical command of Celeste, with eight wins, three draws, eight defeats and 47.36% of the points played.
