Paulo Bento says Son should face Uruguay in South Korea’s World Cup debut

The fracture around the left eye questioned the athlete’s presence against Celeste, despite having trained with the group in recent days with a mask

South Korea’s coach, Portuguese Paulo Bento, said on Wednesday that, barring a last-minute setback, its star player, Son Heung-min, will be in the starting lineup. The selection will face Uruguay, this Thursday, for the first round of group H of Qatar World Cup.

A fracture around his left eye, sustained on the last matchday 2, has put his presence against Celeste in doubt, despite having trained with the group in recent days with a mask designed by Tottenham, his club.

– The mask doesn’t cause him problems. It’s natural for him. We have been sticking to the plan since we arrived. Bringing him back into the group, he shows that it was a very natural process. He worked with the team in recent training sessions and tomorrow we’ll see how he fares – explained the coach.

– We hope you feel as comfortable as possible and we will try to use the best strategy to do so. Having said that, he knows and we know that after the injury, no risk can be ruled out – he concluded -.
