‘Barbie’ director Greta Gerwig feared the film would spell the end of her career

But that fear pushed him to do it.

Greta Gerwig has talked about ‘Barbie’his next film starring margot robbie Y ryan goslingthe new Ken doll, and has admitted that he had reservations about it.

The director of ‘Lady Bird’ and ‘Little Women’ has added a lot of credibility to the project with his participation, to the point of becoming one of the most anticipated films of 2023, but it states that by accepting the project you are playing with fire, and that his career could be ruined if things go wrong.

But that’s also the exact reason he did it.

In his appearance on the podcast ‘At Your Service’ of Dua Lipa, the filmmaker explained: “It was terrifying. There’s something about starting from that place where it’s like ‘well, anything is possible.'”

“I felt giddy starting to write it. Where do I start? What would the story be? That feeling I had was knowing it would be a really interesting horror.”

“Usually that’s where the best material is. I’m terrified of that. Anything where you think, ‘This could kill your career,’ then you think, ‘Okay, I probably should.'”

Gerwig thanks Mattel, owner of the Barbie franchise, for their full support of his project. “Mattel has been an incredible partner that has given us a lot of trust and freedom and I think that’s incredibly rare,” she said. “Whatever we wanted, they didn’t try to micromanage this. They’ve been fully involved as partners and that’s amazing.”

We still don’t know what it will be the argument main part of the movie, but there are a few ‘Barbie’ movies available on Netflix to make the wait more enjoyable until the Gerwig movie arrives, which, it seems, could take on a very meta turnas Will Ferrell recently quipped.

“I get to play the CEO of Mattel and be that guy who’s cold-hearted but weird… Anyway, that’s what excites me,” said the ‘The Reporter’ star.

Regarding the recurring question regarding whether ‘Barbie Girl’ will be heard on the ‘Barbie’ soundtrack, we already know that the movie will not count with the musical success who launched the group ‘Aqua’ in 1997.
