Re-elected Senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM), member of the Justice and Public Security technical group of the transitional government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), said that the creation of a separate Ministry of Public Security is not yet envisaged by the Ministry of Justice in the Lula government. The dismemberment of the folders was an electoral promise of the Petitist.
“He (Lula) said that in the beginning there won’t be a Ministry of Public Security,” Aziz told reporters after a meeting at the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center, headquarters of the transition. The senator also said that the goal of creating the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples had been maintained.
