The movie ‘Home Alone 2 – Lost in New York’ is known to be one of the great Christmas classics and a favorite of many people on that date. However, actor Joe Pesci has not forgotten, ironically, the problematic moments he went through during filming.
Playing iconic villain Harry Lime in “Home Alone 2,” Pesci revealed in an interview with People magazine that he suffered “severe burns” during filming. The noise occurred while recording a specific scene from the Christmas movie.
“In addition to the expected swelling, bruising, and general pain you’d associate with this particular kind of physical humor, I suffered severe burns to the top of my head during the scene where Harry’s hat is set on fire,” Pesci said. “I was lucky enough to have professional stuntmen doing the really heavy stunts,” she added.
In “Home Alone 2”, the protagonist Kevin McCallister, known worldwide for being played by Macaulay Culkin, is once again faced with the villains Marv and Harry. To escape from enemies, Kevin sets up various tricks and traps and in one particular scene, Harry’s hat is set on fire by the boy.
In the People interview, Pesci was also asked if he would return for a possible sequel to the ‘Esquequeram de Mim’ franchise. The last film was released 30 years ago and the actor said he doubts the magic of the story will ever be captured again.
“Even if you never say never, I think it would be hard to replicate not only the success but the overall innocence of the originals,” Pesci commented. “Now is a different time; attitudes and priorities have changed in 30 years,” she added.
