cited to be the finance minister, Fernando Haddad attended Lula’s meetings with parties last week — MDB and União Brasil — and also with the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG). Despite expectations that Haddad would be “tested” as a political negotiator this first week, it was Lula who took the lead in articulating the Transition PEC. Haddad reportedly said little at the meetings and said he did not closely follow the content of the JEP. With the MDB, who signed a commitment to tax reform was Lula, Haddad followed the elected and agreed with the relevance of the issue. As for the PSD, the minister participated quickly, greeted the politicians, but did not stop at the conversation.
GREEN. People close to Lula say he took it upon himself to articulate to give the finance minister more time before announcing, aiming to have an upfront definition of who will take over the planning.
HEAD. Haddad intends to return to Brasilia only when there is a decision on the ministry’s announcement. In an interview this Friday (2), Lula said that she will interfere in economic matters in her third term. “The ministry has autonomy, but it was I who won the elections. Obviously I want to be involved in the political and economic decisions of this country”.
