Warner Bros. has decided to bring forward the premiere of the film of the hero Flash. Production will arrive a week early in the US on June 16, but so far the date hasn’t been changed in Brazil and is still scheduled for June 22.
The advance would be linked to the positive reactions of the public during the test sessions, according to the website Deadline. A person with no connection to Warner told the site that the film is better than the hit “Spider-Man: No Return Home” (2021), due to the participation of the different Batman experienced by Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton.
The move also takes “The Flash” off the opener for “Indiana Jones and the Grim Reaper,” which hits theaters in late June, giving the film two weeks to breathe at the box office.
But for the new date to stick, actor Ezra Miller will have to stay out of the new issues. He is involved in several legal entanglements and is expected to start facing criminal trials soon. In addition to the violence issues in Hawaii, he is accused of stealing drinks from a neighbor’s house in Vermont, USA.
“The Flash” will adapt one of DC Comics’ most famous recent arcs, the crossover “Ignition Point” (Flashpoint), in which the speedster travels back in time to prevent his mother’s murder and ends up altering the timeline of the whole planet.
Directed by Andy Muschietti (“It – A Coisa”), the film will also feature a new brunette Supergirl, played by Sasha Calle (“The Young and the Restless”), who will be the first Latina interpreter of the heroine.
While this change has not been explained, the character’s appearance is similar to that of Lara Lane-Kent, an “imaginary” daughter of Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane. The character was created by Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo in ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us – Year Three’, and the resemblance is so striking that it caught Taylor’s attention on social media.
Only that Lara Lane-Kent appeared in a short dream sequence. Therefore, many people still bet on Cir-El, another “daughter” of Superman, who like Superboy (Kon-El) turned out to be a human clone altered by Lex Luthor. Cir-El was also a brunette with short hair.
Older fans will still remember the Legion of Super-Heroes’ Laurel Kent, the first female descendant of Superman, inducted in 1976 with the same haircut, though she proved to be a sham heiress like Cir-El.
What the three aforementioned characters have in common is that they are supposedly “daughters” (or descendants) of Superman. The advanced age of Batman, in Michael Keaton’s version, reinforces the theory that the film will not have Kara Zor-El, but a daughter of Superman in the role of Supergirl.
