Vibra Energia opens this Wednesday the first station in Brazil completely dedicated to charging electric vehicles and plans to install two more such points in the city of São Paulo by early 2023, company executives and the company told Reuters. its startup partner EZVolt. .
According to the companies, the “100% electric” station comes to meet a demand mainly from corporate customers, who have bet on electric fleets as a way to gain cost competitiveness and reduce their carbon footprint, helping to make take off electromobility in Brazil .
Located in the Jardim Anália Franco neighborhood in east São Paulo, the station will have eight simultaneous electric charging points, six with ultra-fast charging equipment and two with semi-fast charging. The service station is managed by EZVolt, an electromobility startup that received a grant of 5 million reais from Vibra.
The idea of creating a station just for the supply of electricity, without the traditional sale of petrol and ethanol, stems from a request from the market itself, especially from companies that use fleets of electric cars, explained to Reuters Bernardo Winik, director Vice President B2B Commercial Executive of Vibra.
Although companies, mostly in the logistics sector, usually charge their fleets at night, there are cases where vehicles need extra charging during the day, he said.
This happens, for example, with electric cars from mobility applications. Vibra and EZVolt just partnered with 99 and see app drivers as a major request for new stations.
“This movement comes to serve the consumer in any type of energy he needs… The 100% electric station is another piece in our portfolio of electromobility solutions”, highlighted Winik, recalling that Vibra also offers recharging points electricity at service stations and the construction of a corridor with 70 electrical stations on the motorways connecting the South and South-East regions.
The company also mapped nine other strategic points where charging hubs are under construction in Brazil. The capital São Paulo will receive the next two: by the end of the year, the Canindé region will obtain a 100% electricity station and, in the first quarter of 2023, another one will be inaugurated in Vila Olímpia.
The largest fuel distributor in the country, Vibra has undergone a change in its corporate strategy in recent years, starting to position itself as an energy company. In partnership with EZVolt, it offers mobility solutions for companies such as Americanas and NoCarbon, the electric vehicle rental company of the JBS group.
The energy that will power the vehicles at the power stations will be supplied by Comerc, a renewable energy generator and trader, of which Vibra is co-controller.
The value of the investments made in this and other Vibra electromobility projects has not been disclosed.
FIRST ELECTRIC STATION
In addition to serving corporate fleets, the service station opened in Jardim Anália Franco is also open to the public, with equipment to serve both 100% electric and hybrid cars.
Gustavo Tannure, CEO of EZVolt, says it is difficult to estimate the flow of vehicles that will use the station, but he estimated that the eight points are enough to serve customers without queues at first. Also according to him, the partnership with 99 should guarantee a consistent request for top-ups.
Top-ups are 1.97 reais per kilowatt hour (kWh) for ultra-fast chargers and 1.77 reais per kWh for semi-fast chargers.
According to Vibra’s Winik, the prices offer significant savings to the user compared to fueling a combustion car.
“The final consumer… manages to travel more or less the same distance (as a combustion car) with savings of 50% or more, depending on the place and the car he owns.”
In addition, the station offers services for users waiting for recharging, which can take at least half an hour, such as a room with TV and wifi. For professional drivers, fleets or applications, in addition to the bathrooms, there is also an outdoor area suitable for rest and meals.
According to Winik and Tannure, further electric mobility actions are already being planned for the future, such as the implementation of 100% electric stations in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
