the fever of Album of Panini stickers and the world Cup were two of the most searched subjects in Brazil in 2022. According to a Google survey released this week, topics have had a positive impact in the country, with data indicating a record search in the country.
The World Cup, for example, reached a new peak of interest last week, showcasing the success of the competition on social networks and the internet. The volume of searches started to pick up after the first match, between Qatar and Ecuador on 20 November; Iran and Serbia, teams engaged in political and public rallies, were among the most tied to the search indices.
The Moroccan team, who accomplished a historic feat by knocking out Spain and qualifying for the quarter-finals for the first time in their history, have also followed a trend of searches in recent days. Furthermore, all Brazilian states showed an interest of more than 50% of the volume of searches on the World Cup. Santa Catarina and Paraná were the ones that searched the most, while Amapá was in the “lantern” of Google searches. In Brazil, the “World Cup” theme is behind only the 2022 elections in Google searches.
Richarlison, the team’s top scorer at the World Cup, was the most searched athlete on Google in 2022. With three goals, including two in the opening match against Serbia, the striker had a record number of searches during the first week of the World Cup Cup in Qatar. EspÃrito Santo, the player’s home state, was where there was the highest search rate for the Tottenham star.
Before the start of the World Cup, another topic reverberated on the internet and in searches on the platform: the album of stickers, with all the players and teams participating in the World Cup in Qatar. Launched by Panini in August, the collection caused a sensation among young people and adults. The question “how much does the World Cup album cost” has been one of the most frequently asked questions in the last year. During the week of August 21-27, Google’s search platform saw the highest volume of searches for the album. In Brazil, research was concentrated in the South and South-East regions. São Paulo led the searches, followed by Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.
Another survey related to the Cup and the album is the value of the Neymar sticker. In August the Stage has informed that a special chrome plating of the forward of the Brazilian team has been put up for sale for R$ 9 thousand. According to Panini, these special stickers are the rarest in packs, being found in 1% of the packs. On the other hand, they are not part of the collection itself, having no space to paste into the album. They are special collectors items.
