Aftershocks were felt in the coastal towns of the Marcas region
Earthquakes measuring up to 4.0 on the Richter scale shook the Marche region in central Italy on Thursday (8), but without causing damage.
The strongest of the aftershocks occurred at 8:08 am (local time), on the coast of the city of Pesaro, about 10 kilometers deep, a number considered shallow.
The earthquake was felt distinctly in the municipalities of Pesaro and Fano, but left no damage. The region also recorded several other earthquakes between 2.1 and 3.7 during the morning.
Italy is one of the countries with the highest seismic activity in the world and is located at the junction of the African and Eurasian tectonic plates, which constantly collide, causing earthquakes. 🇧🇷
