The company has laid off 20% to 30% of total employees in a balancing effort to ensure cash availability
Clicksign, a company specializing in document signing technologies, ended the year with an aggressive wave of job cuts. According to information circulating on social networks, the company would have fired about 100 employees, including some hired less than a month ago.
Wanted by the report startupsa Click Sign confirmed the number of 100 people made redundant, but said it was less than a third of the total number of employees, which according to the company’s page on LinkedInindicates a total of 353 people.
A list with the names of the fired employees is already circulating on the internet, which is close to 100 names. In the spreadsheet, it was possible to see that the cuts reached several areas: marketing, HR, product design, customer success, IT and sales, among others.
According to reports from former employees of the LinkedInthe announcement of the decision for a mass cut took place this Thursday morning (15) via videoconference via Zoom in with all employees of the organization.
“We received a message on Slack advising that we had an important announcement via Zoom, we received a text advising us to check out Slack. And then when we entered, Marcelo (Kramer, CEO of the company) , read a message saying that it was one of the saddest days since the company’s inception, warned that anyone who received the mail would be logged out,” he told startups a former employee, who preferred not to be identified.
Commenting on how the cuts were made, ClickSign emphasized that the layoffs were not made via video call, with each employee being communicated individually after the call.
“Laid people received personal calls from HR professionals and other management professionals who formed a support group and received training in a humanized dismissal process. This is a cultural pillar of the brand. The company even offered a transition benefits package,” the firm advisory said.
However, some of the most scandalous reports of former employees on social networks have a curious fact: some of the people included in the passage had been hired by Click Sign recently, some of them had been with the company for less than a month.
“I didn’t have time to build any rapport with people. I closed three PJ contracts for exclusive dedication and so, with a busy schedule of meetings, it was all over,” said a former employee who entered the wave of cuts with only 8 working days to Clicksign🇧🇷
Readjustment
In a note to startupsa Click Sign he specified that the cuts are part of a readjustment of the internal framework, in order to guarantee the “availability of liquidity to deal more intensely with the new opportunities envisaged for the coming months”.
“With the aim of continuing to improve the quality of internal and external services, Clicksign will direct its efforts towards the opportunities that will arise for the company and the market, with a readjustment of the operating structure carried out in a timely and unique way,” the company said in a statement.
Despite the speech, the news comes just months after a surge in hiring at the company, including bringing in big names to supplement its C-level. At the time the Clicksign said it hired more than 170 new professionals between July 2021 and July 2022, a period marked by large waves of layoffs at startups and big tech.
According to the company, the entry of new professionals has further strengthened the management team and generated opportunities for the development of new talent, creating the structure necessary to maintain sustainable growth in 2023. Apparently, the strategy has changed on the eve of the entrance into the new year.
