At Comic-con in Las Vegas, Sony announced the launch of El Muerto, a film dedicated to Spider-Man’s friend. The release is scheduled for January 2024.
Following in the footsteps of Venom, Morbius, and Hunter, Sony Pictures is launching a new spin-off related to its spider, El Muerto. But unlike before, it’s a friend of the “beautiful neighborhood spider.”
Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bani (real name Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio) will play Marvel / Sony superhero El Muerto. He will be the first Latin actor to star in a Marvel movie in live action. This was announced by Sony at ComicCon, which is currently underway in Las Vegas.
El Muerto’s character, the same Juan-Carlos Estrada Sanchez, is a powerful wrestler. His family members pass down from generation to generation the El Muerto mask, which imparts superhuman strength. The latter was entrusted to them by El Dorado, the self-proclaimed god of battle. But with each pass of the baton, El Dorado demands a fight with the next owner of the mask.
A fight that the young Juan-Carlos refuses. After the loss of his father’s life, the terrible Eldorado gives the hero 10 years to train.
Arriving in New York, the protagonist rescues Daily Bugle Editor-in-Chief Jay Jameson and his son. The latter then offers him to fight the spider for a charity match. Spider and Wrestler join forces to defeat El Dorado.

El Muerto first appeared in comics FRiendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Volume 1 # 6 In May 2006. Sony has already announced the release date of the film on January 12, 2024, a year after Spider-Man Needle Focused Kraven Hunter, which is currently filming, and 6 months later on the Lady’s website. Scheduled for July 2023.
