On his Twitter profile, The Rock says he spoke with James Gunn and revealed the future of the anti-hero character in the studio’s upcoming films, which will have a new first phase amid the restructuring of the DC cinematic universe.
“I wanted to give you a long-awaited update on Black Adam regarding the character’s future in the new DC Universe. James Gunn and I have talked and Black Adam will not be in his first chapter of the narrative,” said the actor.
“However, DC and Seven Bucks (The Rock’s production company) have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways to use Black Adam in future chapters of the DC multiverse.”
James Gunn then retweeted The Rock’s post about Black Adam and confirmed the news. “I love @TheRock and am always excited to see what he and Seven Bucks are up to. I look forward to collaborating soon,” he wrote.

With that, the Black Adam news follows the latest surprises involving the new DC universe in theaters. Recently, it was announced that Wonder Woman 3 was cancelled, as well as the unexpected departure of Henry Cavill from the role of Superman.
Given recent events, it’s safe to assume that most of DC’s previously planned films aren’t expected to follow the studio’s schedule. The future of other feature films such as Blue Beetle🇧🇷 Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The flash at the moment it is not yet clear.
