Black Panther 2 director reveals original idea for film starring Chadwick Boseman

Ryan Coogler, director and screenwriter of the two films of the franchise black Panther, revealed in an interview the original plans for the film which involved the return of Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa. Obviously, this idea could never be developed after the actor’s untimely death at the age of 43.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is one of the few titles located within the MCU that deviates from the usual Marvel Studios narrative. The reason for this was the death of Chadwick Boseman, which forced the studio to completely change the story of the film and leave the cinematic universe for a while.

But, before the actor’s death, plans had already been drawn up for what the sequel would look like, and writer-director Ryan Coogler told the New York Times about them in an interview. According to him, the original version already differed from the rest of the Marvel films.

According to Coogler, the story of the black panther 2 which would be played by Chadwick Boseman already included the young Toussaint, lived by Divine Love Konadu-Sun, son of T’Challa and Nakia. However, in the previous version the baby would have been revealed at the beginning of the film. Already inside Black Panther: Wakanda ForeverToussaint only appears in the credits.

The idea of the film, according to Coogler, would be to show how T’Challa lost the first five years of his son’s life, due to Thanos’ blipping, along with half the life of the universe. “It would be absolutely nothing like what we did. It would be a father-son story from a father’s point of view, because the first film was a father-son story from a son’s point of view,” she explained.

He continues: “In the script, T’Challa was a father who had this forced absence of five years from his son’s life. [por causa do Blip]🇧🇷 The first scene would be an animated sequence. You hear Nakia talking to Toussaint. He says, “Tell me what you know about your father.” You realize he doesn’t know that he fathered him was the Black Panther. He never met him and Nakia remarried a Haitian boy. Then we cut to reality and it’s the night everyone comes back from the Blip. You see T’Challa meeting the boy for the first time,” explains the director and screenwriter.

As Coogler made clear, the original sequel to black Panther would start off with a bang that would completely change how we saw T’Challa’s return after half of humanity was saved by the Avengers. Coogler also revealed that there would be another time jump right after the first one.

“So, fast forward three years and [T’Challa está] essentially doing shared parenting. We had some crazy scenes for Chad, man. Our code name for the movie was “Summer Break” [ou ‘Férias de Verão’, em tradução livre]and the film was about a summer that the boy spends with his father,” he explained. “On their eighth birthday, they perform a ritual where they go into the bush and live off the land. But something happens and T’Challa has to saving the world with her child in her arms That was the movie.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever it’s still acting in theaters.
