Corinthians is in the final stages of preparation to compete in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior. Mister Danilo, who took over from the Under 20 team after the departure of Diogo Siston, will make his debut in the tournament at the helm of Alvinegro. This Thursday the coach spoke about the difficulty of the competition, comparing it to the Libertadores.
“You don’t need to do well in the first phase and get to the moment of the knockout and exit. It’s a tournament that I say is like the Libertadores, you fight to qualify and then you can’t make mistakes, you can’t give opportunities to your opponents. Our team knows what it will be this cup” said the coach of Timãozinho.
The Corinthians idol was champion of the Copa Libertadores in 2012, being one of the important players of the team then commanded by Tite. In his first year as under-20 manager, Danilo led Corinthians to the Paulista and Brasileiro finals, but finished as runners-up on both occasions.
In 2022, Corinthians was eliminated in the third leg, in Resende, by Rio de Janeiro, 2 to 1, and ended the dream of the 11th pint. The last title won dates back to 2017.
Finally, in this edition, Corinthians is in Group 12 with Zumbi (AL), Ferroviária (SP) and Fast (AM). The club’s debut is scheduled for January 3, against the Alagoas team, at 21:45, in Fonte Luminosa. Timãozinho’s headquarters will be in Araraquara.
